Athens Press Agency Selects NEWS ASSET AGENCY EDITION

As it prepares for its run-up to the Olympic Games of 2004, the Athens News Agency (AEPI) has selected News Asset Agency Edition as part of its total system solution. The new system, which is being implemented prior to the worlwide event, will allow the Agency to support the high demands of covering and delivering the vast amounts of news from the games as well as handling all the future needs of the Agency. News Asset was selected over an array of participants from the recently published international tender offer. News Asset teamed with ORACLE and local integrator ALTEC Systems SA, in order to deliver a cutting edge solution for the Agency.

Many new features are being developed and implemented for this release of Agency Edition, specifically designed to support advanced functionality such as multilingual spell checking in the news editor, saved search criteria and various news source windows in the archive, event agenda and news planning functionality as well as a dynamic Web Portal.

News Asset Launches Innovative Module for Integrating QuarkXpress

ATC released its latest advanced module for providing two-way communication between QuarkXPress and NEWS ASSET Press Edition. The fully integrated Quark Module cuts production time and knocks down the wall that traditionaly exists between editorial and layout departments, by providing Quark users with an easy to use pallete which, displays stories, (incl. text, headlines, bylines etc.) and specific layout instructions for placement directly to stored templates or free-page layout designs. Changes are updated in both directions. When text is updated on a Quark page, the system automatically writes back the changes to the editorial system and the archive, so you always have accurate versions of printed stories.

The NEWS ASSET QUARK Module has further features that allow publications to auto save published pages back to the archive as individual PDF files. In this way the Archive stores not only each story element seperately but also in the finished format as it was published. The Module is supports both QUARK for MAC and MS Windows.

The Athens Olympic Broadcasting Corp. (AOB) Selects ATC and Virage For Supplying A Live Digital Indexing Solution

Athens Olympic Broadcasting (AOB) is the Host Broadcaster for the 2004 Olympic Games in Athens. As Host Broadcaster, AOB is responsible for producing and distributing unbiased radio and television coverage of the Olympic Games. The coverage is provided as a service to Broadcasters who have purchased the Olympic Broadcast Rights from the International Olympic Committee and ATHENS 2004 to broadcast the Games in their respective countries.

The International Signal (IS) produced by AOB includes the camera, audio signals and graphics generated at each venue, as well as various non-competition events such as the Opening and Closing Ceremonies. This international, or multilateral, signal is transmitted from the venues back to the International Broadcast Centre (IBC) and from there to the world via optical fibers or satellite earth stations. AOB is also required by the IOC to capture a complete indexed archive of all the Olympic Games coverage and to this end, AOB selected ATC and Virage to provide a solution for live video indexing and archiving. Based on its substantial experience in both media archiving solutions and direct involvement with Virage in its own News Asset solution, ATC was chosen to provide an integrated tape labeling and barcode printing solution to Virage's VideoLogger Application, as well as to provide Project Management and Games Time Support for the total Virage solution during the entire period of the 2004 Summer Olympics.

KERDOS "PROFIT" Publishing A.E. Replaces Existing Publishing System With NEWS ASSET

KERDOS (Profit), one of the leading economic daily news journals in Greece, made its own economic news today,when it took the wise financial decision to replace its existing editorial solution with NEWS ASSET. The paper, which began in 1985, has been an innovator in the area of financial news publishing in Greece both in terms of style and substance. Printing approximately 72 pages daily, PROFIT covers local and international economic news, with special sections on shipping and international market results.

News Asset Press Edition is chosen by Thessaloniki-Macedonia Newsgroup

Thessaloniki-Macedonia is the oldest and largest newspaper publisher in Northern Greece. Their selection of News Asset Press Edition over competing systems is a validation of their trust and enthusiasm for the solution. With over 150 concurrent users, the installation represents a huge leap forward for the publisher as they look to streamline workflows in the news room and increase automation. The project will be performed in two phases over the course of 2003, beginning with the core application being installed with the Archive Manager, News Room, Exchange Manager and Production Manager. The second phase will see the implementation of the Quark integrated Layout Director and a newly developed Ad Booking Module. Espresso Newspaper Group of Athens, Greece chose News Asset Press Edition to publish its daily news tabloid "Espresso". The popular Greek newspaper publishes an average of 10,000 copies daily and will use News Asset for all its newsroom operations.

ATC and Virage Team Up to Provide News Asset Users with State of The Art Video Management and Editing Functionality

ATC announced that it has signed an agreement with Virage (Nasdaq: VRGE) to integrate the companies VS Production Suite, Video Logger, Smart Encode and Media Analysis plug-ins. News Asset will be able to offer its customers cutting edge video production and management technology, in addition to its already stellar Digital Asset Management solution. Release for the integrated version is scheduled for Q4 2002
